Angles represent a systematic approach to identifying winners based on past performance using specific rules. The beauty of an angle lies in the minimal judgment required once the rules are mastered.
Numerous handicappers prefer the comprehensive approach of assessing an entire race card as if they were chess masters, viewing the races as a grand chess board. This desire to reach a master class level of handicapping is certainly understandable. However, I’ve never been particularly drawn to such an exhaustive method of handicapping. This method involves considering every conceivable factor and then balancing all these variables to make a selection.
While I have experimented with this approach, my transition to using angles for picking winners resulted in less time spent handicapping, while maintaining the same winning rate.
The angles I describe in this book are those I employ while betting at harness tracks and race books in Las Vegas. Although certain angles in this book prove more effective at some tracks than others, the ones I’ve included here work across the largest range of tracks I have researched.
In a previous book I authored, 19 Valuable Horse Racing Betting Systems, I delved into harness racing angles, along with thoroughbred and quarter horse angles. The three harness angles from that book have been reproduced here, while all other content is original to this book.
The rules of the handicapping angles within this book are lucidly explained and simple to apply.
