Yulong’s North American Grade 1-winning mares, including Moira, Full Count Felicia, and Anisette, are set to target the prestigious The Championships in Sydney. Following the success of Via Sistina in the previous year, Yulong and trainer Chris Waller are gearing up for another shot at glory by sending a new shipment from the northern hemisphere to Australia.
These three exceptional mares, acquired at significant prices at auction, will be among Waller’s nominations for The Championships, eyeing races like the A$4 million G1 Doncaster Mile, the A$5 million G1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes, and the A$1 million G1 Queen Of The Turf Stakes. Additionally, French Group 1 placegetters Zarir and River Of Stars, along with Irish Listed winner Sakti, will join the Yulong team in Australia.
Yulong’s strong autumn lineup also includes established Australian stars like Growing Empire and Deny Knowledge. General manager Vin Cox expressed optimism about the upcoming races, highlighting the impressive credentials of the North American mares who have been in training in Europe and are now set to make their mark in Sydney.
Moira, the 2024 American Champion Female Turf Horse, clinched her first Grade 1 win at the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf, while Full Count Felicia and Anisette also boast impressive racing pedigrees. The trio, purchased by Yulong post-Breeders’ Cup, are expected to make a splash in Australian racing with their bottle green colors.
