Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) has recently announced an exhilarating schedule for 2-year-old and 3-year-old horses in the upcoming autumn season. The initiative aims to provide ample opportunities for young horses in both pacing and trotting categories. The highly anticipated series will kick off with the first metropolitan three-year-old race at Melton Entertainment Park this weekend.
HRV’s racing department has meticulously curated a program that includes a series of races for 2-year-old pacers, 3-year-old pacers, 2-year-old trotters, and 3-year-old trotters. The schedule is designed to showcase the talent and potential of these young horses while offering substantial prize money to incentivize participation.
The 2-year-old pacing events will feature races such as the Premiere Stakes, Nutrien Pacing Heats, Metropolitan 2YO Pace, Sapling Stakes, and APG Finals, among others. These races, scheduled fortnightly at various venues, will provide a platform for emerging talents to compete and make their mark in the harness racing scene.
On the other hand, the 3-year-old pacing category will see races like Garrards Horse & Hound, Nutrien Pacing Heats, Nutrien Pacing Finals, and several Metropolitan 3YO Pace events. These races promise intense competition and thrilling performances as the young pacers vie for victory and recognition in the industry.
In the trotting division, both 2-year-old and 3-year-old trotters will have their respective series of races, including the Metropolitan 2YO Trot and Metropolitan 3YO Trot events. These races will test the trotters’ skills and stamina, providing a platform for them to shine and establish themselves as formidable contenders in the trotting circuit.
It is essential to note that the schedule is subject to change, with a minimum requirement of seven starters for races to proceed. The HRV’s initiative underscores its commitment to promoting and nurturing young talent in the harness racing community, setting the stage for an exciting and competitive autumn season.
With a focus on fostering talent, encouraging participation, and rewarding excellence, HRV’s juvenile racing bonanza is set to captivate audiences and elevate the profile of harness racing in Victoria. As the season unfolds, fans can expect to witness thrilling races, unexpected upsets, and the emergence of future stars in the sport.
