Sydney-based jockey Zac Lloyd, known for his remarkable performances in the Sydney jockey premiership, is set to showcase his talent at the upcoming Coonamble meet. Despite his high standing in Sydney, Lloyd is venturing into the country racing scene, highlighting the diversity and competitiveness of the sport.
One of the key races Lloyd is participating in is the $150,000 Evergreen Turf WRA Country Championships Qualifier (1400m), where he will be riding Poisen Point, trained by Brett Robb. Poisen Point, a promising contender, has been displaying consistent form with two wins and two seconds in four races since returning from a break. This race offers Lloyd a chance to demonstrate his skill in a different setting and against strong competition.
In addition to Poisen Point, Lloyd is scheduled to ride several other horses at Coonamble. Notably, he will partner with Casino Diva and Donna Emilia, both trained by Brett Thompson, who secured victories in their previous outings at Orange. Lagoon, prepared by Kylie Kennedy, will also be under Lloyd’s guidance in the Gilgandra Toyota/Inland Petroleum Country Boosted Maiden Showcase Plate (1400m), marking its debut under a new stable.
Furthermore, Lloyd will be aboard Waitapu, trained by Jane Clement, in the Geronimo/Regional/Agspray/Paragon/Woodhams Benchmark 66 Handicap (1600m). Waitapu, a previous winner at Tamworth, reflects Lloyd’s versatility in handling different horses across various race conditions. Another exciting ride for Lloyd is Stern Reminder, trained by Cody Morgan, in the Dad&Dave/Elite/Southernx/Evergreen Showcase Super Maiden Plate (1100m), where the horse will make its racing debut following thorough preparation and trials.
Mack Griffith, a Mudgee-based trainer, will collaborate with jockey Aaron Bullock in multiple races at Coonamble. The partnership will see Bullock riding Wolf Club, Rail Trail, Crown Legend, and Sanzeno, each presenting strong prospects in their respective events. Sanzeno, particularly, has shown promise with a recent win at Tamworth and a commendable fourth-place finish at Quirindi, indicating the potential for a competitive showing in the Qube Agri Class 2 Showcase Handicap (1200m).
As Lloyd and other talented jockeys gear up for the Coonamble meet, the event promises thrilling races and fierce competition, showcasing the vibrant and dynamic nature of horse racing across different regions. The blend of seasoned riders, emerging talents, and top-notch trainers sets the stage for an exhilarating display of skill and strategy on the track, captivating audiences and enthusiasts alike.
